There are three things to focus on when moving deeper into a new relationship with Jesus: assurance of your salvation, a plan for reading the Bible, and trusted accountability.
READ MOREMany believe that God exists, but they do not have a personal relationship with Him. The difference between belief and trust is in the action involved in trusting. You can believe something one day and then change your mind the next. But to put your trust in something—to have faith in something—is to commit to aligning your actions with your belief.
READ MOREIf you understand what sin is, then you should know that you need forgiveness. Sin is a moral affront to a holy God. We have offended God and because He is just, He must punish sin. And we deserve punishment! Yet, God loves us. Pastor Adrian Rogers says, “No one has ever sinned themselves beyond the love of God. Sin is not just breaking God’s laws; it is breaking His heart.”
READ MOREThere's no specific formula for starting a conversation about Jesus. The key is simply to ask God for opportunities and then take them as God brings them to you.
READ MOREIt doesn't need to be complicated. Whenever you have the opportunity, simply tell someone how grateful you are that Jesus took all your sins away. Tell them about how Jesus has changed your life and how He continues to change your life.
READ MOREApart from Jesus, there is no salvation, no forgiveness of sins, no relationship with God, and no Heaven. Without Jesus, a person will suffer the punishment for sin in Hell. We have more opportunities, more ability to communicate, more tools than any generation ever had. Don't let this opportunity pass by. Share the good news of Jesus Christ with those around you.
If you have God's Spirit in you, you will resist the sinful impulses that rise up in you. You won't do it perfectly. There will be many times when you still sin. But if your faith is getting stronger, you will find yourself increasingly resisting the temptation to get angry, gossip, lust, worry, etc.
READ MOREThe keys aren't complicated -- regularly read your Bible, pray consistently, serve God, and fellowship with other believers.
READ MOREWhen it comes to reading the Bible, it’s better to start small and be consistent than to try to read too much and burn out. Find an amount that you can read consistently and try to stick with it as much as possible. The more consistent you are with reading the Bible, the more you’ll grow in godliness.
READ MOREIf you're looking for truth, you can find it in the Bible. Why? 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God." In Greek, that word "inspiration" literally means "God-breathed." Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."
