Is Jesus Christ central to preaching? Why?

The preacher should never preach theology; rather, the man of God must preach the Christ of Scripture. The preacher must ask himself, Where is Jesus in this sermon? I believe in all of the Bible you will find Jesus. The Bible has but one hero, one villain, and one theme. The hero is Jesus, the villain is Satan, and the theme is "Jesus saves." Somehow, somewhere, in some way, that theme is present all through the Bible.

Christ is in all the Scriptures, and the Scriptures testify of Christ; Jesus is the message of the Bible and, thus, He must be the message of the preacher. The preacher should examine his message to ensure that he has preached the Gospel.
