God is a God who forgives, but He’s also a God who punishes. When He forgives, it doesn't mean He takes away sin’s consequences. Sometimes He leaves them in place. But He always has a redeeming purpose. Chastening isn’t God trying to even the score. He wants to make you holy, to make you like Him. Chastening proves you are His child.
