Do You Love God Selflessly and Strongly?

“Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!”

Psalm 119:2

Ponder This

Deuteronomy 6:5 says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Your soul is yourself. The whole self, the total self, needs to be given over to God. There should be no area in your life that is off limits to God. How are you going to teach your children there is one Lord? They are to see in you that one love. They are to see in you a sincere love and a selfless love for our Lord.

Do you know how I can measure any person pretty well? I only need to see two things. I’m talking about your calendar and your bank account. Where are you putting your time? Where are you putting your money? You’re to love God selflessly.

There is also to be a strong love. You’re to love God with all your might—every inch, every ounce, and every nerve. He’s not just talking here about physical strength. He’s talking about whatever strength you have: emotional strength, financial strength, intellectual strength. Love Him selflessly. Love Him strongly.

  • Which one do you struggle with more: loving God selflessly or strongly?
  • What areas have you made “off limits” to God?

Practice This

Pray about what areas you consider off limits to God and surrender those things to Him.

FOR YOUR GIFT TO THE MINISTRY

What is the mission of the Church?

Love Worth Finding's newest book, "A Final Charge to the Church, "is based on the final series of messages Pastor Rogers preached before retiring in 2005. Pastor Rogers wanted to prepare his congregation for the future. In doing so, he provided a biblically sound blueprint that applies to all Christians on topics including unity among believers, standing strong in opposition to the enemy (Satan), the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives, steadfastness in prayer, true worship, faithfulness to God's Word, caring for others, and the kingdom authority given to believers in Jesus Christ. The book is a great read for all believers who want to become better prepared, as the bride of Christ, to be radiant, pure, and faithful to Jesus, the living Word of God.
