  1. INTRODUCTION
    1. You are God’s House: He lives in you.
      1. Acts 17:24
    2. The Old Testament temple was only a pattern for the believer.
    3. These things have a spiritual lesson that goes far beyond Jewish ritual.
      1. Old Testament: God had a temple for His people.
      2. New Testament: God has His people for a temple.
      3. God will clean house, do a cleansing work on you, if you’re truly His.
  2. THE PROFANING OF THE TEMPLE (Matthew 21:12)
    1. Money-changers had made it a den of thieves.
    2. Your one purpose is to glorify God in both spirit and body.
      1. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
    3. Your body is the means through which you express what is in your spirit.
    4. You are to glorify God by what you express through your body.
    5. Your life is to be a life of perpetual glory to God.
  3. THE PURGING OF THE TEMPLE (Matthew 21:12)
    1. Jesus will not live in a dirty house. He will clean house.
      1. John 2:15
    2. He will purge by means of chastisement.
      1. Hebrews 12:5-8
      2. He chastises only those who belong to Him.
      3. Every believer will experience this.
      4. Purpose: He wants you to be holy.
        1. Hebrews 12:10-11
    3. He will purge by means of disruption.
      1. John 2:15
      2. He will turn over your tables.
      3. He loves you too much to let you succeed in your sin.
  4. THE PURPOSE OF THE TEMPLE (Matthew 21:13)
    1. To be a place of prayer.
      1. Temple’s altar of incense depicts our prayers, rising continually to God.
        1. Matthew 21:13
      2. If prayer is not continually rising in your heart, you need revival.
        1. Luke 18:1
      3. You can be tuned to God even in your sleep.
        1. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
      4. Pray about everything.
        1. Philippians 4:6
      5. God puts upon your heart those for whom you are to pray.
        1. 1 Samuel 12:23
      6. You are saved to be a house of prayer.
        1. Isaiah 56:7
    2. To be a place of power.
      1. The greatest miracle is not healing but for souls to be saved.
        1. Matthew 21:14
        2. Matthew 11:11
        3. John 10:41-42
    3. To be a place of praise.
      1. When your house becomes a place of prayer and power, by that very fact it will become a house of praise.
      2. Praise will be widespread.
        1. Matthew 21:15-16
      3. Praise will be continual.

      4. Your house (body) is the New Testament Temple.
        1. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
      5. If you ask, God will come in to fellowship with you.
        1. Revelation 3:20
  5. CONCLUSION
    1. Do you know Jesus personally? If not, you can pray to Him today by asking Him to come into your life.
    2. Call upon Jesus today. Repent (turn) from your sins, and turn to Jesus. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and acknowledge Him as Lord of your life.
