  1. INTRODUCTION
    1. Everyone seems to hate their job.
    2. We can put joy and zest back into the most monotonous and mundane jobs.
      1. 1 Corinthians 1:26-27
    3. God’s plan is to take ordinary people, put them in ordinary places, and get extraordinary glory to Himself.
  1. SEE YOUR JOB AS AN OPPORTUNITY AND BE GRATEFUL. (Ephesians 6:5)
    1. Some people see their job as a necessary evil.
      1. Both blue and white collar people fall into this category.
    2. Some people see their job as a cruel master.
    3. Some people see their job as a god.
    4. As Christians, we are to see our jobs as a gift and be grateful for them.
      1. Proverbs 14:23
  1. SEE YOUR JOB AS A RESPONSIBILITY AND BE HELPFUL. (Ephesians 6:6-7)
    1. Our jobs are really a partnership with God, even when it is a so-called “secular” job.
    2. Work is a not a punishment for sin; the punishment was toil and sweat.

    3. God was the first farmer, and then he passed it on to Adam.

      2. Genesis 2:15
    4. Our work comes from God, so we should work as though we are working for Him.
      1. Colossians 3:23-24
    5. We are called to do a good job at our work, even if it is in a worldly place, just as the Israelites were commanded to do while they were in Babylonian captivity.

    6. We should work no matter how much money we have.
    7. We should take care of those who can’t work, not those who won’t work out of laziness.

  1. SEE YOUR JOB AS A MINISTRY AND BE FAITHFUL. (Ephesians 6:5-7)
    1. When we go to work, we are not working for men, but we are serving God.
    2. We don’t have to work in a church or ministry in order to serve God. We can serve God in our current workplace.
    3. We are serving God full-time no matter how mundane our jobs might be.

    4. God has specifically placed us in the jobs we have.

    5. God has sent us into the world.

    6. We must not brag.

      2. We are not to be self-righteous people.

      2. We should be working harder than anybody else because we are serving God.
    9. We must not sag.
      1. We can’t let our guards down and blend in with the world.
