  2. THE ONE TRUE GOD IS THE TRIUNE GOD (Isaiah 6:1-3)
    1. The great Christian distinctive is the Trinity.
    2. We do not worship three gods; we worship one God revealed in three persons.
    3. To deny the Trinity is the root of many heresies.
    4. The only way to understand the doctrine of the Trinity is by divine revelation.
    5. We don’t have to understand the Trinity in order to believe in the Trinity.
    6. There is only one God, so there is nothing to compare Him to.
      1. Isaiah 40:18
    7. We see reflections of God’s triune nature in His creation:
      1. Time past, present and future
      2. Space height, width and depth
      3. Man body, soul and spirit
    8. We see evidences of the Trinity in the Old Testament:

          1. “The Lord our God is one Lord” is translated from “Jehovah our Elohim is one.” The word “Jehovah” is singular; the word “Elohim” is plural. The word “one” is “echad”, meaning a collective one.
            1. Other places in Scripture denoting a “collective one”:
              1. Genesis 2:24
              2. Genesis 11:6
              3. Numbers 13:23
