Why Do I Exist?

(Psalm 139)

  1. INTRODUCTION   
    1. In order to know God’s purpose for our lives, we can go to His Word.
    2. Knowing our purpose in life is important for:
      1. Fulfillment
        1. If we do not fulfill the purpose for which we were created, we will not have fulfillment in our hearts and lives.
      2. Success
        1. Failure is succeeding at the wrong thing.
      3. Determines priority
        1. Proper priorities come from knowing our purpose.
    3. It is important for us to not only know what God saved us from, but also what He saved us for.
    4. How we think of God has much to do with how we think of ourselves.  We need to see ourselves as the creation of Almighty God with a purpose.
  2. GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT ME 
    1. God knows my character.  (Psalm 139:1)
    2. God knows my conduct.  (Psalm 139:2-3)
    3. God knows my contemplations.  (Psalm 139:2)
    4. God knows my conversation.  (Psalm 139:4)

  3. GOD IS ALWAYS WITH ME
    1. Psalm 139:5-6
    2. Jeremiah 23:24
    3. Acts 17:24
    4. Death cannot hide me from God.  (Psalm 139:7-8)
      1. Romans 14:11
    5. Distance does not hide me from God.  (Psalm 139:9-10)
    6. Darkness does not hide me from God.  (Psalm 139:11-12)
  4. GOD HAS A WONDERFUL PURPOSE FOR ME
    1. Psalm 139:13-16
    2. Psalm 14:1
    3. He is a mighty God.
      1. There is no sin He cannot forgive.
      2. There is no prayer He cannot answer.
      3. There is no soul He cannot save.
      4. There is no problem He cannot solve.
  5. GOD HAS ME CONSTANTLY IN HIS HEART
    1. Psalm 139:17-18
      1. The sum of God’s thoughts toward me number more than the sand.
    2. Psalm 84:11
    3. God loves me and created me with purpose.
