How To Behave In A Cave

1 Samuel 24:1-19
(RA-1952, Programs: 3617 & 3717, Air dates: 09.03.17 & 09.10.17)

    1. Today’s society is plagued with a spirit of rebellion, but the Bible teaches self-surrender.
      1. Matthew 24:12
    2. David’s greatest victory was over self.
      1. 1 Samuel 24:1-7
    3. Like David, we must learn that in order to have Kingdom Authority, we must remain under authority.
    1. 1 Samuel 26:9
    2. When we rebel against authority, we’re really rebelling against God.
      1. Romans 13:1-5
    3. We’re never more like the devil than when we rebel; we’re never more like Jesus than when we submit.
      1. The devil rebelled against God.
        1. Isaiah 14:13
      2. Saul rebelled against God.
        1. 1 Samuel 15:23
      3. David had a spirit of submission.
    4. Recognizing authority over us does not mean that we approve of what someone does; David did not approve of what Saul did.
  3. RESPECT KINGDOM AUTHORITY (1 Samuel 24:8-15)
    1. We must respect authority, even when that authority is unworthy; this is not necessarily respecting the individual, but respecting and submitting to the authority God has placed over us.
    2. Jude 8-9
    3. 1 Peter 2:18-20
  4. REST IN KINGDOM AUTHORITY (1 Samuel 24:15)
    1. This does not mean to rest in government or governmental leaders, but to rest in the Lord.
    2. Romans 12:19-21
    3. 1 Samuel 24:19
    4. We don’t blindly obey ungodly government; there are many examples in Scripture where prophets preached against the wickedness in the kingdom.  But we are to have a spirit of humility and surrender.
    1. Do you know Jesus personally? If not, you can pray to Him today by asking Him to come into your life.
    2. Call upon Jesus today. Repent (turn) from your sins, and turn to Jesus. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and acknowledge Him as Lord of your life.
    3. Romans 10:9-10
    4. Romans 10:13
