  1. INTRODUCTION
    1. If we do not know, love, understand, practice and obey the Word of God, we will not be victorious Christians.
    2. If it is true that knowledge is power, then we need the knowledge of the Word of God in order to have spiritual power.
      1. Proverbs 23:7
    3. Each verse in Psalm 119 deals with the Word of God so that we might know and understand His Word.
  2. WE MUST APPRECIATE THE VIRTUES OF THE WORD OF GOD
    1. If we do not appreciate the virtues of the Word of God, then we will have no desire to learn or know the Word.
    2. Virtues of the Word of God:
      1. It is a timeless book.

          1. The Bible is settled in Heaven.
      2. It is a truthful book.

          1. The word “inspiration” is used only once in the Bible; it is “theopneustos,” which literally means “God breathed.”

  3. WE MUST ASSIMILATE THE VITALITY OF THE WORD OF GOD
    1. The Bible is a living book.

    2. How do we assimilate the Word of God?
      1. Pray over it.

        2. What will happen when we pray over it?
          1. Our eyes will be opened.

        3. When reading the Bible, remember that it contains many different forms of speech: see poetry as poetry, prophecy as prophecy, precept as precept, promise as promise, and proverb as proverb.
        4. The Bible is to be interpreted both figuratively and literally.
          1. When we read symbolism in the Bible, find out what the symbol stands for and then literally apply it.
        5. Ask these questions when studying the Bible:
          1. Is there a promise to claim?
          2. Is there a lesson to learn?
          3. Is there a blessing to enjoy?
          4. Is there a command to obey?
          5. Is there a sin to avoid?
          6. Is there a new thought to carry with me?
        6. When studying the Scriptures: read it through, think it clear, write it down, pray it in, live it out, and pass it on.
      3. Preserve it.

          1. Memory comes with concentration, motivation, and use.
      4. Practice it.

  4. WE MUST APPROPRIATE THE VALUES OF THE WORD OF GOD
    1. The knowledge we have will become transformational.
      1. It will be a source of victory.

      3. It will be a source of joy.

  5. CONCLUSION
    1. Do you know Jesus personally? If not, you can pray to Him today by asking Him to come into your life.
    2. Call upon Jesus today. Repent (turn) from your sins, and turn to Jesus. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and acknowledge Him as Lord of your life.
