  2. LIE NUMBER ONE: GOD IS NOT GOOD (Genesis 3:1)
    1. The devil tries to get us to think negatively about God; to believe that God is withholding goodness from us.
      1. Genesis 3:1

    1. God, in truth, wants to bless us.
      1. Psalm 37:4
      2. Psalm 84:11
      3. 1 Timothy 6:17
    2. If the devil can make you think negatively about God, he’s
      already got you.
  1. LIE NUMBER TWO: GOD IS NOT TRUTHFUL (Genesis 3:2-4)
    1. When you think negatively about God, it is easy to think skeptically about God.
    2. The devil desires that we doubt God.
    3. Anyone who causes skepticism concerning God’s Word is doing the work of the devil.
    4. The devil is out to destroy God’s truthfulness.
    5. In today’s society, we have substituted many things for God’s Word.
      1. Relativism
        1. There is no fixed truth.
      2. Subjectivism
        1. Based on feelings and experiences.
      3. Rationalism
        1. Using reason and logic alone.
      4. Pragmatism
        1. Do not ask if it’s true, but does it work.
      5. Postmodernism
        1. There is no absolute truth; it is subjective and individualistic.
  1. LIE NUMBER THREE: GOD IS NOT RIGHTEOUS (Genesis 3:4)
    1. The serpent claimed to Eve, “Ye shall not surely die.”
      1. That is to say that God is not really going to punish sin.
      2. That God is not a God of judgment.
        1. New-Ageism comes from the idea that we will not die.
        2. There is no more fear of death.
    2. God is loving, and He is righteous.
    3. Law without penalty is only advice.
  1. LIE NUMBER FOUR: GOD IS NOT GRACIOUS (Genesis 3:4-5)
    1. The serpent is claiming in this passage of Scripture that if God is not truthful or righteous, then we have no need to fear Him; that we should be liberated by being our own god.
    2. But it is only God’s grace that can truly set us free.
    3. In God’s grace, He created us in His image so that we could have fellowship with Him.
    4. God wants us to be like Him. The Bible teaches us to be like God, not as God.
      1. Revelation 22:4
      2. “His name shall be in their foreheads” refers to God-likeness.
    5. 1 Corinthians 2:9

    2. How do we overcome these lies?
      1. By Calvary’s conquest.
        1. Hebrews 9:22
      2. By courageous confession.
        1. The Bible is the Word of our testimony.
      3. By complete commitment.
