How Does Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount Teach Us How To Live?

And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.

Jesus Teaches Us How to Live

Some of Jesus’ best-known teaching is found in Matthew 6 in which Jesus taught us how to pray what we call the “Lord’s Prayer” and in Matthew 5 in which Jesus taught what we call “The Beatitudes” or “The Sermon on the Mount.” These are direct discourses given to us by the Master Teacher.

In His life, death, and resurrection, and in the totality of His teaching, Jesus gave us everything we need in this life to commune with the God to whom we have been reconciled and to live in His grace.

As the Apostle Peter told us, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3).
