We should also participate in our government. Dr. Adrian Rogers once said, “It is inconceivable that God would have ordained human government and then tell His people to stay out of it.” Christians should take the responsibility to vote, and if gifted to do so, should run for offices as God leads. We should also take the opportunity to praise our government when it does well and preach to our government when it fails. This is not preferring one party over the other as much as it is holding all parties accountable for what they do. As Christians, we must do both praising and preaching to our government with loving humility as ambassadors for Christ. Our influence as Christians must be used to persuade politicians to act according to the standards of Scripture. We should aim to change public opinion with the truth of God’s Word in a way that honors the Lord and doesn’t discredit Him through means of angry outbursts or violence. We have a responsibility to act within the scope of law as directed by our authorities. This is the godly character instructed to us in Romans 13:1-2.
