Future Glory Means God’s Best is Yet to Come

“That having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Titus 3:7

Ponder This

I want you to see our future glory through Jesus. Titus 3:3 speaks of our guilt. Titus 3:4-6 speaks of grace. And Titus 4:7 speaks of glory. “That having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” That’s talking about what is coming. That is talking about our future. We are heirs of God and joint heirs of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:7). Do you know what a joint heir is? A joint heir means we share in the same way. We are heirs of God. We inherit all things. The best is yet to come.

Now, the Bible calls the Holy Spirit that we have right now the down payment. He is the earnest of our inheritance. Do you know what the word earnest means? If you’re going to buy something large, like a house, you give earnest money. It’s the start of what is to come. The Holy Spirit in your heart is the earnest money. You’ll get the full legacy later. You don’t have it all now; it is future glory. That’s the reason we remember this world is not our home. We’re just pilgrims, passing through to a future glory that awaits us.

  • In your walk with Jesus, do you experience hope for what is to come? Why or why not?
  • How have you shared the hope of Jesus with others?

Practice This

Write down some things that make you dread the future, then write down reasons from Scripture that give you hope for the future.
