Are You Growing in God’s Grace?

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Philippians 1:6

Ponder This

Once you are saved, you come out of law school, and you get into grace school. Unlike law school, grace school never closes. The teacher never fails to show up. You’re continually being taught.

In salvation, there is nothing to earn but there is much to learn. Do you know what discipleship is? It simply means learning. A disciple is a learner. You’re learning to live as you should. That’s the reason none of us has a diploma yet. There’s not one of us who can say, “I have graduated from grace school.” We are being discipled by the grace of God, and He’s still working on us.

John Newton wrote the song many of us know and love: “Amazing Grace.” John Newton also wrote, “I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world; but still I am not what I once used to be, and by the grace of God I am what I am.”[1] You see, He’s still working on us, and we are growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • What are some lessons in grace you have learned?
  • How have you prioritized learning the things of God over the rules of man?
