“Jesus answered them and said, ‘My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.’”

The reason some of us don’t understand the Bible any more than we do is because we are not responding to the light God has already given us. Why should God show you more in His Word until you obey what you already know? Light obeyed increases light! If you want to understand the part of the Bible you don’t understand, begin to obey the part you do understand.
Obey what God teaches you. The problem is not in our heads. The problem is in our hearts. In today’s passage, the Pharisees were testing Jesus, taunting Him, picking at Him. In response, Jesus said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.” And then Jesus told them, in effect, you will see for yourself who I am when you start to follow and listen to Me.
Pray about the things God has shown you that you struggle to obey. Ask God to grow your obedience to Him.
