How to Discover Your Spiritual Gift


Romans 12:6

    1. Metamorphosis
      1. The inner nature of a Christian is Jesus
      2. When you present yourself to Christ as a living sacrifice, then your inner nature becomes more evident
    2. We must have a renewed mind, the mind of Christ, in order to discover our spiritual gift
  3. SOBER CONSIDERATION  (Romans 12:3)
    1. Don’t think in sinful exaggeration
    2. Don’t think in false humiliation
    3. Think in sober estimation
      1. Principle of enlightenment – the Holy Spirit will enlighten your mind
      2. Principle of enjoyment – you will enjoy your spiritual gift
      3. Principle of encouragement – others will encourage you in your gift
      4. Principle of enablement – God will enable you in your gift  (1 Timothy 1:12)
  4. SHARED PARTICIPATION  (Romans 12:4-5)
    1. We have different gifts; but as Christians, we’re part of the same body
  5. SPECIFIC ACTIVATION  (Romans 12:6-8)
    1. You will discover your gift as you get busy
    2. Spiritual gifts
      1. Prophecy – declaring truth; moving people to action
      2. Ministry – service; meeting spiritual needs in a practical way
      3. Teaching – to clarify truth
      4. Exhortation – the desire to stimulate others to love Jesus better
      5. Giving – the motivation to entrust personal assets to others that the work of God may be carried on
      6. Ruling – to coordinate and help others to see a big vision and to move them toward that vision for the glory of God
      7. Mercy – to comfort those who are in distress
  6. SETTLED CONFIRMATION  (Romans 12:2)
    1. Once you have confirmation regarding your spiritual gift
      1. You accept yourself
      2. You begin to be yourself
      3. You begin to give yourself
