  1. INTRODUCTION 
    1. A prevailing sin in the church today is the sin of lukewarmness.
    2. Revelation chapters 1-3 speak to seven literal churches.  
    3. These churches are also symbolic in that they have a message for us today.
      1. They speak to us prophetically.
      2. They speak to us practically.
      3. They speak to us powerfully.
        1. Revelation 3:22
      4. They speak to us personally.
        1. The church is made up of individuals; therefore, there is a message here for the individual, as well.
        2. Matthew 18:20
  2. THE CURSE OF LUKEWARM CHRISTIANITY  (Revelation 3:15-16)
    1. Lukewarmness is that state of being a little too cold to be hot and a little too hot to be cold; no fire, zeal or enthusiasm for the things of God.  Believers who yawn in the face of God.
    2. How is lukewarmness manifested?
      1. Lukewarm about sanctification.
        1. Indifferent about personal holiness.
        2. Mark 7:6
      2. Lukewarm about service.
        1. Lack of concern for serving others.
      3. Lukewarm about singing.
        1. Singing is not spirit-filled.
        2. Ephesians 5:18-19
      4. Lukewarm about the Scriptures.
        1. Lack of real hunger for the Scriptures.
      5. Lukewarm about supplication.
        1. Earnest prayer is not a priority.
        2. James 5:16
      6. Lukewarm about sacrifice.
        1. Reluctant to sacrifice.
      7. Lukewarm about soul-winning.
        1. Soul-winning is not pursued.
    3. What is the harm of lukewarmness?
      1. Lukewarm Christians are the alibi of sinners.
      2. Lukewarmness sets us up for other sins.
  3. THE CAUSE OF LUKEWARM CHRISTIANITY  (Revelation 3:17)
    1. Ignorance of our own need.
      1. Revelation 3:18
    2. Leaving our first love, Jesus Christ.

  4. THE CURE FOR LUKEWARM CHRISTIANITY  (Revelation 3:18)
    1. The gold of God’s glory.
      1. Gold that has been through the fire.
      2. You know how rich you are once you’ve added up everything you have that money can’t buy and death can’t take away.
    2. The garments of God’s righteousness.
      1. “White raiment” speaks of righteousness.
      2. “Eye salve” spiritually discerning.
