Who Is Jesus?

  1. INTRODUCTION
    1. Jesus Christ is God the Son.
    2. Jesus does not want a place in your life or wish for prominence in your life; He deserves and demands preeminence. 
  2. JESUS REVEALS THE FATHER  (Colossians 1:15)
    1. Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
      1. The visible Jesus makes the invisible God known.
      2. You can never fully know God the Father apart from God the Son.

    2. Jesus is the first-born, above all creation.
      1. The word “first-born” in Colossians 1:15 does not imply a beginning; Jesus never had a beginning.  There was never a time when Jesus was not.  Instead, the word speaks of honor and privilege.

    4. The preposition “for” in Colossians 1:16 speaks of direction. 
      1. The Bible is linear:  we are moving to a time when the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ.
  4. JESUS RECONCILES THE FALLEN  (Colossians 1:18-21)
    1. The Creator of the universe died for sinful man.
    2. The Maker of every seed, every limb, every tree died upon a tree to make peace between us and God.

    1. Is Jesus Christ number one in your life?
