Matthew 7:7-11

1. THREE KEY WORDS: ASK, SEEK, KNOCK
   1. Ask—desire expressed
      Why do we pray?
      1. Not to impress God
      2. Not to inform God
      3. We pray to invite God
         1. Fellowship factor—fellowship with God
         2. Development factor—I grow, learn, abide, and receive strength when I pray
         3. Dependence factor
      4. The greatest tragedy is not unanswered prayer, but unoffered prayer.
      5. Satan cannot keep God from answering, so he will try to keep you from
         asking.
   2. Seek—direction explored
      1. Seek the purpose of God.
      2. Seek the presence of God.
      3. Seek the power of God.
   3. Knock—determination exerted
2. WAYS GOD ANSWERS PRAYER
1. Direct answer
2. Different answer
3. Delayed answer
   1. God commends persistence.
4. Denied answer
3. WHEN DO YOU STOP ASKING?
   1. When you have what you asked for.
   2. When you have the answer in your heart (though not in your hand).
   3. When God says no.
4. WHY DO WE HAVE THE ASSURANCE OF ANSWERED PRAYER?
   1. Because God is good.
   2. Because God is wise.
   3. Because God is able.
