Shallow Hearts
August 10 | Taken from a message by Adrian Rogers
“But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles” (Matthew 13:20-21).
I don’t get excited every time somebody shouts “Hallelujah.” I don’t get excited when I see people weeping as they walk down the aisle during an invitation. I try to view life in perspective. I have lived long enough to know that there are shallow individuals living in the realm of emotion.
Let tribulation, persecution, or problems enter their lives, and the emotions on the mountain are tried in the valley. Sometimes, people will say that they lost their salvation. Friend, no one can “lose” their salvation. If they say that, then they never had it in the first place.
