Bearing The Yoke In Your Youth - Part 2
August 27 | Taken from a message by Adrian Rogers
Lamentations 3:27 says, “It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.” Don't ever get the idea that children should not have to work when they are children. We need to teach them industry.
Sometimes it's easier to do things yourself than to get children to do it, Amen? A four-year-old is old enough to gather and empty the trash. But you have to help him pick it up and guide him. A six- or seven-year-old can help with the dishes and yard work, too. Also, when children go to school that’s a part of their work, as well.
Some say, “Pastor Rogers, don't you want children to play?” Of course! But this summer, a lot of kids will be saying there is nothing to do. They will be bored. Around my house I was afraid to act bored because my dad would find something for me to do. Let them work so when they play, their play will be a whole lot sweeter.
