Living by Faith
July 4 | Taken from a message by Adrian Rogers
Everything thing we have pertaining to our salvation and sanctification are gifts from God by faith.
Do you want to be saved? Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Do you want to be sanctified? Acts 15:8-9 says, “And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as He did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith” (emphasis mine).
Do you want your prayers answered? Jesus said, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24). Do you want to overcome the world? “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).
It is faith that is the medium of exchange in the kingdom of heaven. That is the reason the Lord Jesus Christ said to the two blind men, “According to your faith be it unto you” (Matthew 9:29).
Your faith is the measure of your victory. All of the things that grace provides, they come to us by faith. Romans 1:17 says, “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
The way that we live the Christian life is not by striving or trying, but by trusting in Almighty God.
