Restoring a Brother
October 18 | Taken from a message by Adrian Rogers
Galatians 6:1 says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”
A brother can be restored. That is good news!
God is the God of the second chance. Do you know somebody who has been overtaken with a fall? The Bible says you are to restore him. “Restore” is a technical word which means to set a bone that has been broken or to mend a net that has been torn.
That person who has backslidden has a burden because his or her relationship with God has been broken. One of the burdens we need to take up and bear is the willingness to relieve a brother of his burden. When you see a fallen brother, it is not a call to gossip, it is a call to prayer.
